I conceived of this amazingly simple pattern when I saw that there were other sushi scarfs on ravelry but they were all crochet. I can only knit and so instead of persuading my crocheting sister to make me a scarf , I came up with my own pattern in garter stitch for us knitters. Enjoy!

Sushi Scarf

Materials needed:Sushi scarf- rolled up

1 skein of black, one white and 4 contrast colors (one skein of each)

Hometown USA (however a substitute for this yarn perhaps in a DK or worsted weight would be fine also just knit in smaller yarn to suggested inches)

Pattern stitch: Garter. Knit every row.

Notes: When knitting this scarf do not just go by the inches suggestions alone make sure to roll up each color before you change colors to make sure it looks how you want it to. For example the first color I made rolls in a circle about twice and the 2nd color rolls in a circle around the first one about twice too. Make sure it is pleasing to you before you change colors and for the final color (black) make sure you knit it so it goes around the whole scarf rolled up ONLY once ( see picture for questions).

Cast on desired number of stitches(15 are suggested) in color wanted for center of sushi( pink is suggested however an orangey salmon or yellow would work fine too).

Knit in garter stitch for about 5 1/2 inches in your first color.

Change to your second contrast color ( I used a deep magenta) and knit for about 14 1/2 inches.

Then change to your 3rd contrast color (again I used a light green) and knit for around 3 1/2 inches.

Then change colors to the final contrast color ( I used a deep green) and knit for around 3 inches.

Change to white and knit for about 7 1/2 inches (or until it goes around the rolled up scarf ALMOST once)

Change back to your 3rd contrast color and knit about 2 3/4 inches (or until it lines up and exceeds a little  the stripe of the same color knitted earlier).

Change to the 4th contrast and knit around 4 inches (or until it lines up and exceeds a little the stripe of the same color knitted earlier also).

Change to white and knit for about 25 inches or until the white wraps around the whole scarf almost twice.

Finally knit in black for about 17 inches or when it wraps around the whole scarf only once.

Bind off.

Add tassels for a fun look.        "Sushi scarf- fanned out"
Wear and Enjoy!

Update: I used size 11 needles

This blog was pretty much created to put any patterns i create on my own for knitting out into the world and also to show the projects of others i’m currently doing. I’m not sure i’ll keep up with it very much but i’m going to try! Happy knitting,
