Puffy Squares Scarf!

Posted on: August 12, 2010

Puffy Squares Scarf

This pattern is based on a stitch called “large basketweave” in a vogue knitting book I own. I love this pattern because of the interesting “puffy” squares that it creates.

Materials needed:

2-3  skeins Loops and Threads “Charisma” ( I used the color Electric Blue)

Size 11 straight needles

Size 13 Straight needles

Cabling needle (cn)

CO 24 stitches in size 11 needles

Knit in k2, p2 rib for 10 rows

Change to size 13 needles and begin pattern:

Row 1: knit

Row 2: purl

Row 3: K3, *sl 3 sts to cn and hold to BACK of work, k3, k3 from cn* repeat from *-*, finish with K3

Row 4: purl

Row5: knit

Row 6: purl
Row 7: *Sl 3 sts to cn and hold to FRONT of work, k3, k3 from cn* repeat from * to end

Row 8: purl

Repeat rows 1-8 until scarf is desired length (suggested: 5-6 ft)

Change to size 11 needles and knit in k2, p2 ribbing for 10 rows

Bind off

Enjoy your awesome puffy squares scarf,
